Jillian’s project was a sentimental one for her as she wanted to wear her grandmother’s wedding gown, but also make it look current while knowing the integrity of the original gown. As is the case with most of the gowns of 50 years ago, the trains are generally quite generous. This gave us fabric and lace to work with. The original bodice was an empire and the skirt was too short. So we cut a new bodice with a natural waistline. This dropped the skirt just enough to make it to the floor. The neckline was reshaped and sleeves were eliminated. Finally, a simple headpiece using Russian tulle topped off her look.
Ultimately, her wedding was featured in Southern Bride magazine highlighting an absolutely stunning view!
